UK Business Connect Launches Engineering Biology Innovation Network

Innovate UK Business Connect Launches Engineering Biology Innovation Network

The Engineering Biology Innovation Network, launched by Innovate UK Business Connect in collaboration with Innovate UK and UKRI’s Technology Mission Fund, brings together researchers, start-ups, industry and innovators to help advance engineering biology towards commercial applications.

The network covers six key areas: agriculture and food, energy and low-carbon fuels, health, materials and chemicals, waste recycling, and engineering biology tools. Across these sectors, engineering biology has the potential to contribute to challenges ranging from food security and healthcare to sustainable manufacturing and the circular economy.

A key focus of the initiative is connecting the UK engineering biology community, encouraging new collaborations and helping promising technologies progress towards industrial and commercial applications.

This is another important initiative for strengthening innovation translation in the UK, connecting research, industry and commercial expertise to help promising science move towards real-world applications and successful products.

As part of the initiative, the Engineering Biology Networking Platform is open until 16 October 2026, giving researchers, companies and innovators an opportunity to showcase their expertise, identify potential partners and arrange one-to-one meetings.

ClearGate will join the online networking platform and attend the Engineering Biology Networking and Collaboration Event in London on 9 September 2026. We look forward to connecting with researchers, start-ups and industry partners and exploring new opportunities for collaboration.
